  4. I am glad we have a mix of these activities and professional activities in Promise. At the dinner, I was able to meet students from other USM institutions. I am glad I sat at a table with these other students because I got to talk to the other students about their experiences and academic programs. I also liked that people were able to bring family members so we can all see everyone has a life outside of academics and we can balance that! Lastly, I was able to meet and put faces to names that I have seen, for example, I was introduced to Dr. Rutledge.

  5. This was a great dinner, and I really value the opportunities that Promise provides to network through events like this. I was able to meet graduate students who are in my field at other campuses, and get tips for being successful throughout the graduate school process. The food was very good, the venue was beautiful, and overall I felt glad to be part of this night, because it afforded me the opportunity to receive words of encouragement and enjoy the positive attitudes of other graduate students and professionals.

  6. This was a very inspiring event. It encouraged me to move forward with getting my PhD. The stories told by all of the students and doctors were moving. This event was also a great chance to meet BDs from other schools and to associate with people from all over MD. I am very happy to be a part of this program, where we can take advantage of these types of events. They are opportunities of inspiration that must be used in a positive way towards our own paths. On a side note the food was great.
