In honor of National Postdoctoral Appreciation Month, the Postdoctoral Advisory Committee and the Office of Postdoctoral Scholars are pleased to announce that Jorge Cham, PhD, creator of PhD Comics, will be delivering his Keynote Address, titled “The Science Gap.”  Please join us to help recognize and show appreciation for our postdoctoral trainees who are a major driving force of research at our institution.

Dr. Renetta Garrison Tull is the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at the University of California Davis. She previously served as Associate Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives at The Graduate School at UMBC, and was Professor of the Practice in the College of Engineering & IT. She was Special Assistant to the Sr. Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Director of Graduate and Professional Pipeline Development for the University System of Maryland (12 institutions). She is the Founding Director of PROMISE: Maryland’s Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) – http://www.umbc.edu/promise, and Co-PI for the USM LSAMP. Her research on global diversity in STEM continues, and she is an international speaker, covering nearly all continents, for groups and conferences such as the World Engineering Education Forum, the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies, and the Pacific Sciences Congress.     Events at UMB

    We often hold events at UMB in the MSTF atrium, located at 685 W. Baltimore Street Downtown Baltimore

    Parking:
    Please park in the Grand Garage at the corner of Paca and Baltimore Streets.

    Driving Directions:
    Rt. 95 North, Exit on 395, MLK Blvd. Take MLK Blvd. to West Baltimore Street, Make a right onto West Baltimore. The MSTF atrium can be reached from the Health Services Facility (HSFI; 685 W. Baltimore Street) on your right.

    To park:
    Continue driving … pass Greene Street (Hospital on your right), prepare to get into the far left lane. Make a left onto PACA St. The Grand Garage is on your immediate right.

    To return to the MSTF atrium through the HSFI Building on foot:
    Go to the corner of Paca and West Baltimore, Go back toward the hospital, pass Greene Street. Go up another block, HSFI will be on the left. Ask the guard to direct you to the MSTF atrium. You will need to show your campus ID.
